June’s Update

Hi!

Today is international father’s Day, so I would like to wish all dads health, joy for their children, happiness, and… Of course much of tennis 🙂

June brings also the app update, last month I worked on Quality of Life improvements, UI, fixes and additional stats for our tiny dashboard =) List of the changes:

Watch – app changes:

  • Added Bo5 match formula – now, if you like to feel like a professional tennis player on the Grand Slam – finally you can do it with the app! The Bo5 has been added for all the users, don’t have to subscribe to the app to play it.
  • Watch vibrates for the important events. I noticed, that many players forget to change ends during the Tie-Breaks. Now the watch will vibrate if you have to change ends or match is finished. You can disable this in the settings menu -> vibration
  • I added Return winners and Dirty Aces to the in-watch stats screen.
  • A little bit changed font size and placement of the some of the indicators. In the future I’ll work on UI of the app, so you can expect more changes in the next releases
  • Memory usage optimization for the FR55
  • After undoing the point, the serve indicator will not reset. In case if you misclicked the score type for the second serve and undo it, the serve will stay as the second one. Previously undoing the point completely reset the point and it was confusing after misclick.

Web app changes

As you probably noticed, I introduced a new tab called “Insights”. At the moment you can find there general statistics that are based on your match history. So there are tiles like the summary of the matches that you played, and the card that shows you how many matches you play every month. You can also find here your serve analysis and points distribution.

The points distribution shows you how many points you get from each score type, but the more interesting would be the grouped points scored and lost point charts. I grouped the scores into three groups: serves, active scores, and passives. Active scores show you how many points you win (or lose) with the initiative of the scorer. So if the player scores the point by Winner, Forced Error, or Return Winner it means that he has the initiative of this point and won it – it can also indicate a more aggressive playstyle. The passive points are more lost by the defender than won by the attacker – it is the sum of Unforced Errors and Double Faults. I hope this chart will be helpful to a general understanding of the areas that we have to improve, and maybe change our play style.
