Dashboard Rework

Hello everyone!

This time, I wanted to share with you a new dashboard improvements. While I was using a dashboard app, the “Statistics” tab was completely useless and seemed to be redundant. In fact, there was some data, but it was hard to read and interpret. Similar, but better was with the “Dashboard” tab – it provides some data, but there are some facts, not too useful. I decided to rebuild both tabs to make them fresher and standardize colors.
I also decided to rename the app in the store – the new name is Tennis by AMR – it will be better visible on the watch menu (Tennis at the first place).

Dashboard

The new, refreshed dashboard has three new sections:

  • Player: displays overall player profile and provides information like recent form from last ten matches, general performance, and some insights like win ratio, practices count, etc
  • Quality: This tile represents the interpretation of our performance stats for the given year (it’s calendar year; in the future, I’ll extend it with more time windows). All of the qualities have a 0-100 scale, and each represents a different area:
    • Serve – Quality of service. The calculation of this indicator takes into account the service accuracy, service effectiveness, and how likely we are to defend our service games
    • Return – Quality of return. It shows how effective we are on the return side. It takes into account how many serves we return, how many points on return we are able to win, and how often we break the opponent.
    • Rally – The indicator shows our effectiveness in rallies. More = better chance to win a rally.
    • Consistency – Rally consistency. Fewer unforced errors and more points from the rallies – the better.
    • Shots – This indicates how you earn the points. The more aggressive playstyle (winners, forced opponent errors), the better the shot quality is.
    • Mental -Our behavior in clutch moments, like how we act in deuce, advantages, set points, etc. More unforced errors, double faults, more losing in clutch moments, the worse score is.
    • Fitness – This calculation is based on the above-mentioned indicators, but it takes into account only long matches. It divides it into three phases: early, mid, and late game, and compares how your qualities dump over time. The greater the decline, the worse the fitness.
  • Insights: Here we have some stats, like win ratio divided by surface, clutch points conversion, etc.

The quality indicators will be refined and updated to present your profile more effectively, but I think what we have now is a very good start =)

Statistics:

This page was completely rebuilt; I’d say it was built from scratch. I hope it’s clearer now and provides more useful information about our game, and we’ll use it more often. For example, I’m curious whether I serve better on deuce or even court side :). If you have more ideas for quality indicators or statistics, let me know! 🙂
